About

Dr. Susan

Rosenberg

I am a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Health Coach. I have loved being in private practice working with people to overcome challenges in their lives.   However, when I turned 55,  I faced a challenge of my own.  Following a routine check-up and lab work, my doctor confronted me with the news that in addition to being 25 pounds overweight, I was now pre-diabetic and hypertensive and was a candidate for various medications.

Unwilling to become a medication junkie or put my health care in the hands of Big Pharma, I decided I needed to take responsibility for my own health.

Coincidentally, at about the same time, I had recently watched the documentary, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead”- a film by Australian businessman Joe Cross.  Although Joe doesn’t advocate extreme juice fasting for everyone, he continues to promote the health benefits of adding fresh juice and a more plant based diet to achieve optimal health for all of us.  I was inspired and curious about whether Joe’s methods could benefit me.  Call it Karma, but a few weeks later, Joe announced that he was leading the first ever “Reboot Your Health” retreat at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck NY.  The retreat would consist of a 5 day juice fast along with plenty of health coaching and presentations by leading thinkers in the fields of health and nutrition. Dragging hubby along with me, we embarked on an experience that would be life changing for both of us. On day three of the juice fast, the fog cleared.

We no longer felt hungry and somehow began to feel focused and energized.  We both lost about 9 pounds during the retreat but the most exciting outcome was the results of my follow up lab tests two weeks later.

Following just TWO WEEKS of eating a clean, plant based diet, my lab tests were completely normal negating the need for any medication at all.

If changing one’s health as well as mental state could be altered so quickly and so powerfully, through diet, I wanted in.  Following the experience, I decided to return to school and earn my certification as a Health Coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC. A year later, I have lost 25 pounds and never dieted.

I LOVE food and continue to get great pleasure out of cooking and eating whatever my body
is craving.

The difference now is I eat in a way that makes me feel nourished and energized and my cravings for sweets and unhealthy foods have diminished. (Which isn’t to say I never indulge.  Of course I do!) .  I am passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and believe that in order to live fully, we must start with a healthy body.  My personal philosophy is to eat “as close to nature” as possible and to avoid foodstuff that comes in boxes. I also try to get the body moving in some way every day.

I have found that when one’s body is healthy, the emotional and psychological challenges become more manageable or one is in a better place to begin tackling them.

True joy comes from being present in
one’s life  - both body and soul.

In addition to my work with clients, I am an avid gardener, healthy chef, mother of 3 and former competitive body builder.

And start living healthy TODAY
